Self Credit Repair Tips and Suggestions

June 7th, 2011 by admin

Before you embark on the journey of self credit repair, you will need several things. The most important is education. The best place to start is probably the Federal Trade Commission. They provide consumer information on credit issues and advice on where to go for help. This is probably a good place to mention that self credit repair is not possible until ‘credit issues’ have been resolved. If you are behind on, or having trouble making payments, then you may need credit counseling, but not credit repair. If you have had problems paying your bills in the past and those problems are now behind you, but your credit rating has been damaged, then you may need credit repair, but not credit counseling. The non-profit Consumer Credit Counseling Services available in most cities are the best, most reasonably priced credit and budget counseling services, but they cannot help you repair your credit. There is no non-profit credit repair service, which is why there are so many do it your self credit repair programs and so many credit repair companies.

Credit repair companies simply do the work for you. In some cases, they may be able to achieve better results that you can on your own. A self credit repair program is not particularly costly, but can be time consuming and ineffective. Some credit repair companies can be very costly, but they may save you some time. If you are trying to repair your credit quickly, because you are tired of paying high interest rates or because you have been denied credit, then you may want to consider a credit repair company.

The first thing that you will need for any self credit repair program is copies of your credit reports. There are three major credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, and a number of smaller credit reporting agencies throughout the country. If you are attempting self credit repair, you may want to start with one of the three majors. You can view and print a copy of your credit report from any of the three major credit bureaus at http://www.annualcreditreport.com. You are entitled to one free copy per year from each of the bureaus. You must pay for subsequent copies. As you are working your way through self credit repair, you will need several copies.

You will need a yellow highlighter for the first step of your self credit repair program. As you are looking at your credit report, highlight any information that is inaccurate, outdated or questionable. You will need to report any inaccuracies to the credit bureau, either in writing or on-line depending on the bureau. The credit bureau has 30 days to investigate. If they need more information, they will contact you. Once they have the additional information, they have another 30 days to investigate. Which brings us to another self credit repair necessity; patience. You will need patience to write these letters and wait for results. It is at this point that many people give up on credit repair entirely. Some people just give up on self credit repair and turn to a credit repair specialist for help.

Time, copies of your credit reports, a yellow high lighter and patience. These are the only things that you really need to begin a self credit repair program. You do not need expensive ‘do it your self credit repair software’. These software programs mainly consist of copies of form letters for you to send to the credit bureaus and the information that you have just read. If you have decided after reading the self credit repair requirements that there are some things that you do not have (like time and patience, yellow highlighters are pretty easy to come by), then you may want to consider a credit repair company.

The FTC warns consumers to avoid companies that claim to be able to achieve results in very short periods of time. One company advertises that they ‘may’ be able to increase your credit score by ‘as much as’ 100 points in ‘as little as’ fifteen days. That is highly unlikely. It is true that a reputable credit repair company can achieve faster results than self credit repair, but they will be perfectly honest about the ’30 days to investigate rule’. Want to drive to New Zealand and possibly Australia from Saudi Arabia, any tips?

Greetings,

I will attempt to make trip on-land from Saudi Arabia to New Zealand and if possible to Australia. Not right away but maybe after 18 months or two years max.

I googled a bit and found little information online about people who traveled a long distance such as this will be. They mostly complain about paperwork on borders and visa and insurance which can be a bit costly.

As mentioned I will have this within a max of 2 years. But I need some advice,

What car do you think can withstand such a long trip with minimum need for maintenance? I currently own a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, she needs a bit of work but I’m not sure if she can make it even after I repair everything that need repair right now.

Also how to handle money, I know that carrying a lot of cash is considered a bad idea even without traveling, so how to handle money while traveling a very long distance across many countries, hoping no bandits will come up and take away all my possessions, credit cards might be useful but can’t rely on them 100%.

The above are my biggest concerns right now.. Would love to hear a few tips from you, even tips about things I really should be concerned about that I haven’t mentioned above
Nick there are ferries between mainland asia and the islands, and there are some from Indonesia to NZ or Australia so I will not be needing a floating car.

Answer
And greetings in return,

you have written a lot, so I think you might be serious.

Well I don’t think its a good idea that you bring your car. Why ? Simple
You said it needs some repairs. That’s going to cost you money, and I think its not worth it.

You are better off to either HIRE a 4×4 or suitable car here in Australia.
OR
By a car or 4×4. You can then sell it for what you paid, or make a loss.
The loss you make will be less than transport cost to ship vehicle from Saudi Arabia to Australia and then to NZ.

I you here a vehicle you don’t have to worry about breakdowns and repair costs.

About money. Just use you VISA card. No need to come with rolls of paper bills (cash).

Cheers from DOWNUNDER

Do It Yourself Credit Repair Tips You Should Keep in Mind

June 4th, 2011 by admin

It’s easy to be tempted by different ads that promise to clear your bad credits. There are so many that you see them in all media forms. Before you agree to hire one, you have to keep in mind that you would have to pay fees plus there are companies that would turn out as scams and people who have hired them have ended up with stolen personal and financial information. If you have some extra time and you want to be in control, you can complete a do it yourself credit repair instead.

You don’t have to be anxious about do it yourself credit repair because you can get a lot of support from different consumer groups and government agencies. If you would take some time and check their sites or call their information office, you would get some information how to carry out do it yourself credit repair with no problems at all. Since you will be handling your own case, you don’t have to worry about security issues and you will even learn the deeper value of being in debt and in handling money.

Like professional credit repair efforts, you have to obtain the latest copy of your credit reports. This way, you can be able to pinpoint the exact aspects where you might need to keep a careful eye on. Though credit bureaus would charge you a small fee every time you ask for a report, you can obtain a free one every year. There are currently three bureaus and it’s important to obtain the reports from all three. This step is important because not all credit companies report to three bureaus and the records might be inaccurate if you only rely on one. Go through the entries carefully so that you will spot any errors in them.

One of the things that would hurt your credit score is an overdue account. The more you have, the lower your score would be. If you are conducting a do it yourself credit repair, you should focus on clearing overdue accounts first especially if they have a high interest. Be sure to cooperate with your creditors so that you can hold on to the account until you have managed to pay them out.

Tips for a bad credit car loan?

I got in an accident over Memorial Day weekend where I was stopped at a light and someone hit the car behind me, which hit me causing me to his the car in front of me. My insurance company went and did a estimate on the repairs and filed the car as a total loss. My car was pretty new a 2009 and I actually had bought it brand new at the end of 2008. However, now I’m in a situation where I need to buy a new car but the issue is that I have HORRIBLE credit. When I graduated from college I had numerous private loans through different lenders that merged with other companies or where completely bought out by other companies. I was never contacted to make payments and I tried to find all my loans and who they were through but I failed at that. So to make a long story short they only contacted me once they reported to a collection agency. Finally I got them all figured out through a Graduate Recovery program and have started making payments. But obviously the issue is that I have these delinquent marks on my credit. Additionally, I have some other credit issues that I just put into a debt management plan that I started paying this month.
So, I guess my question is I need to get a car loan, I have no way of getting to and from work without one. I don’t have strong cosigner, but I could probably put together $2,000 for some cash down. What else should I do? Or where else should I look? I’ve been declined for 0 down at 2 dealerships right now. I’m hoping to avoid an extremely high APR if at all possible. This is really frustrating because I’m trying so hard to get my credit together :( .
what is the credit score of a cosigner that would be needed to get a car under these terms?

Answer
Financed cars is more expensive to insurance cause it requires full coverage. You can compare how much you would pay for full coverage of this car using this tool – carquotes.sinfree.net

Credit Repair Tips How to Identify and Remove Negative Line Items from Your Credit Report

May 29th, 2011 by admin

If you have a poor report and you are wondering how to correct it, then this article will be of help. Firstly you need to get your report form all three major credit bureaus, Equifax, TransUnion and Experian. All you have to do is go online and order your report. Your report will arrive within a couple of weeks.

You can get your report free of cost once a year. Once you have your report with you, you need to review it for all the negative reports. Every report comes with an explanation about the negative remarks. You need to pay attention to all the negative lines on your report. Every report has the names and addresses of all the companies who claim to do transactions with you. You will need these numbers and addresses in order to settle any claim which is incorrect.

In case you find a negative remark on your report that is incorrect you need to write to the concerned credit bureau refuting the transaction and informing them that it is incorrect. You will need to provide them with all details regarding the transaction and ask them to remove it from your report. The credit bureau will then send the clam to the credit company. The company will then have 30 days to respond to the claim. Then if the claim is found valid it will be removed from the report. If you are meticulous and have an eye for details then the only cost you will be incurring is that of the stamp.

These small mistakes can have a major impact on a person’s report. Hence you should not allow it to stand on your report.

The process of bad credit repair can be time consuming. If you are working within a certain time frame and need a faster process, options are available. Reading through your credit report and eliminating the negative marks, through disputation, can erase bad credit. Debt Consolidation – Good or Bad Idea?

My mother is over $20,000 in debt due to impulse buys and necessary home repairs. She has 3 credit cards and had things paid off or nearly so until the repairs came up. She owns her own home but may lose it due to the debt.

What are the pros and cons of debt consolidation? Which places are legitimate if we decide to go that route? (I’m helping her look into various avenues.) Do they charge for their sevices or are they free? How do they work?

Any tips on preventing this kind of thing from happening in the future? She does cancel cards as she gets them paid off since she doesn’t want to be more in debt.
The mortgage on the house was paid off last year. It is the home repairs made since then and a buyout of one of the credit card companies by another bank that has her in financial straits. She has been paying above the minimum amount owed on all 3 cards for some time trying to get them paid down.

Answer
I know someone in similar circumstances. What she did was to call up the banks and arrange a meeting with all the different banks’ representatives. During the meeting, present your side of story (it helps if there is someone alongside your mum during the meeting), show them your income documents and explain why you cannot pay them what they require from you – because a person still need to pay for groceries afterall.

There are 3 things that can be negotiated to your favor.
1) The past interest charged to you. This can be discounted depending on the bank’s policies.
2) The future interest charged to you. Most banks can give you a lower interest or even 0% for a limited period of the next 6 months or 1 year.
3) The monthly repayment amount. Explain what is a comfortable amount you can offer to pay them per month and always highlight that you are servicing the payments to various banks all at the same time. Ask them to re-work on your monthly installment amount based on what you offer. Most times, they can fix it at say for example $100 for the next 12 months with the option of a gradual increment to $150 afterwards.

Most importantly, display your sincerity of your willingness to pay. Explain that you do not want to default totally thats why you are hoping that they can help you with your financial situation. Always negotiate.

Good luck.

Fast Credit Repair Get Results With These Credit Repair Tips

May 26th, 2011 by admin

The fact that you are thinking about credit repair means that you have a score that needs to be repaired. In such a scenario can you afford to spend a lot of time over the transaction? Can you afford to spend years hoping for your credit repair to take place? It is obvious that you need fast credit repair.

It is only when you enjoy the results will you have the motivation to stick to the plan. Remember, repayment of your credit card debt is not easy. When you earn money, you feel the desire to retain it in your hands and skip the payment to your credit card company. In such a scenario, there always is a risk of the credit card debt increasing beyond control.

If you want to remain disciplined, you should see results very quickly. That is a reason why professional credit repair organizations offer fast credit repair services by filing disputes with credit bureaus as soon as possible. Once the deal has been finalized, the dispute is filed and the score will see an improvement within the next 30 days.

However, if you want to repair other aspects of your credit score and if you want to improve your rating on a consistent basis, it is obvious that you will have to put in a lot of effort.

If you want to reduce the time necessary to carry out fast credit repair, the smartest option is to make use of simultaneous tactics and strategies. One option is to focus on credit card debt reduction even before the disputes have been removed. The moment the errors are removed, the impact of the reduction of credit card debt will be significant.

Further, you should stop making excessive applications for more credit cards. You should carry out a credit counseling session so that you have a clear idea where you stand and how much you have to pay on a monthly basis to maintain your lifestyle.

You should combine all these tips and strategies with out of the box thinking as far as your debt position is concerned. If it is just a question of indiscipline, you can easily rectify the error.

However, if you are not earning sufficient, you should take steps to overcome the problem by either bolstering your income or reducing your expenses. Of course, this is not easy. That is a reason why having an expert by your side will be a very beneficial and convenient option.

Many people are unaware that the credit report can be used as a tool to erase bad credit. This can result in a boost to your score by a possible 200 points. Many negative items found on credit reports are disputable and can be removed legally to erase bad credit. Click the following link for free information on safe and legal ways to repair your credit:

First time house buyer..Need help!!?

My mom want this house that is on the market…its in pretty good shape but needs some repair however we can only afford an FHA loan…we are in the process of getting someone to co-sign for us..what is the process of co-signing for a house..what are our chances of getting approved if our co-signer has good credit and is in the military..what are some tips that can help us get this house faster…any tips????

Answer
There is nothing fast about FHA, if the government is involved, it isn’t going to go faster. The co-signer is going to be a stumbling block, it is my understanding that FHA doesn’t want to commit to these loans, so that may be problematic. If the main borrowers credit is in the tank, don’t be surprised if the main applicant is not approved.

Credit Repair Tips Obtaining Your Credit Report

May 23rd, 2011 by admin

If you’re not familiar with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) established in 1971, you need to understand it and know your rights as a consumer. One of your rights as a consumer is obtaining your report. This is one of my credit repair tips is to get your free report.

Any credit repair tips that come from me will refer to this act constantly because it is the foundation of your credit report and rights especially when it comes to dealing with the big 3 bureaus.

This act requires that the national consumer reporting agencies provide you a copy of your report once every 12 months free of charge.  The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) enforces this law so you can benefit from your rights.

So then, how do you go about getting a free copy of this report? It’s not hard at all really. All you have to do is go to the website annualcreditreport.com and request one. If you have done so in the past and it has not been at least 12 months, it will tell you and you will not be able to get one anyway. After your 12 months has expired, you can try again and you should get it. I have personally done this several times.

The 3 credit recording bureaus Equifax, Experian and Transunion set up a central website where you can go on-line to get your report. The web address is just above. Also they have a toll-free number you can call or you can request it by regular mail.

You can call 877-322-8228 or complete the Annual Credit Report Request Form and mail it to: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281.  You can find the form at annualcreditreport.com/cra/order.

You can request a report from all 3 credit bureaus at the same time.  Watch out though for websites that try to mask themselves as the source for free credit reports. They tend to trick you using the words ‘free credit report’ or ‘free credit scores’ and ‘free credit monitoring’.  The one and only site on the web that will give you a free report is the one I listed here for you in this article.  Also you need to know that they will never send you any emails requesting information from you or soliciting you in any way.

So how long does it take to get your free report?  Well again, if you follow my credit repair tips by doing this online, you should get it instantly.  You do have to fill out your personal information.  They will not ask you for any credit card information at all.  So if you find yourself on a site that does ask for payment information, click the red X in the upper right hand corner of your browser.

Now a good reason to get this free copy of your report is because you need to know what it contains.  Any lenders you may be talking to is using this to make a decision and decide how much they will loan you and what rate you will pay.

U.S. PIRG, the federation of state Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs), did a survey of adults in 30 states.  They had all of them get copies of their reports.  This group stands up to powerful special interests on behalf of the American public, working to win concrete results for our health and our well-being.

The statistics they found are mind-blowing.  It enforces the reasons why you should be getting this report at least once each year.

Here’s some of the statistics they reported:

Twenty-five percent (25%) of the reports surveyed contained serious errors that could result in the denial of credit, such as false delinquencies or accounts that did not belong to the consumer;
Fifty-four percent (54%) of the reports contained personal demographic information that was misspelled, long-outdated, belonged to a stranger, or was otherwise incorrect;
Twenty-two percent (22%) of the reports listed the same mortgage or loan twice;
Almost eight percent (8%) of the credit reports were missing major credit, loan, mortgage, or other consumer accounts that demonstrate the creditworthiness of the consumer;
Thirty percent (30%) of the reports contained credit accounts that had been closed by the consumer but remained listed as open;
Altogether, 79% of the reports surveyed contained either serious errors or other mistakes of some kind.

So with numbers like these, is there any wonder why so many people are denied loans? Especially when buying a house is this a big problem.

So what is one of my best credit repair tips for this article? Get your copy now and make sure you follow-up and get any errors you may find corrected.

Six Super Credit Repair Tips

May 20th, 2011 by admin

Introduction

Credit repair success has little to do with common sense and lots to do with technique. If you don’t make the right moves, the ones that are favored by the FICO scoring model, your credit repair effort will produce less than stellar results. But make the right decisions and you will be amazed at the quick progress you will see. Here are six super tips to get your credit repair effort on track.

Build New Credit

If you don’t have any open credit cards this tip is for you. Too many people start their credit repair project thinking that they will get a couple of new cards after they have cleaned up their reports. This is a serious tactical error. You need to start rebuilding your credit now. Two new credit cards can be worth up to 150 points on your scores within six months. Don’t worry that you can’t get approved for regular credit cards, just get two secured cards. They are the perfect credit repair tool. You won’t get denied and before you know it your scores will be on their way up.

Reduce Your Balances

Once you have your credit cards you need to manage them for the best credit repair results. Don’t let them go to zero, as the FICO scoring model reduces the score value of inactive cards, and keep the balances low. This is true for all credit cards, but even more important for those secured cards you just got. Ideally you should only use twenty percent of the full amount available. As your balances increase your scores will fall. This is important. A maxed out card can cost you over 100 points.

Avoid Store Cards

On the subject of credit cards, they do not all have the same value for your credit repair project. Stick with the majors like MasterCard and Visa, and avoid store cards altogether, at least while you are trying to rebuild your credit. The reason for this admonition is that the FICO scoring model will lower your scores when it sees that you have chosen to utilize this typically inferior form of debt. Store cards are doubly dangerous because they are typically approved for very small amounts, often just above the amount of your purchase creating an instantly maxed out account.

Cool Your Jets

While you are working on credit repair it helps to minimize the amount of credit activity that you engage in. Open two new secured credit cards as mentioned, but otherwise avoid excessive activity. New inquiries have a small impact on your credit score, but they add up. In addition, new accounts will depress your scores for the first few months they report. In the case of new secured cards this is a necessary sacrifice that will pay off in a big way over time. But, for the moment, cool your jets and let the good stuff happen.

Validate Debts Quickly

If you receive a collection letter open it! Don’t stick it in the drawer until you have the nerve to deal with it. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act requires collectors to provide proof that they have the legal right to collect, as well as an accounting of the amount of the collection. But they only have to do this if you ask for it within 30 days of getting the collection letter. This process is called debt validation and is a valuable aid to your credit repair effort. If the collector cannot validate the debt they must stop collection efforts and must not report the account to the credit bureaus. If they do validate the debt you will have the information you need to consider a negotiation strategy.

Get Some Credit Repair Help

You don’t have to do this on your own. There are many reputable credit repair services that will help you reshape your credit reports and improve your scores. In addition to the strategies noted above there are dozens of powerful credit repair techniques that might fit your needs. Many busy people opt to hire a professional credit repair service rather than trying to learn the entire process from the ground up. If you are busy and don’t have the time to do the job properly, just hire a pro. You will be glad you did!

Answer
A new SS number will show up on your credit reports in a section called:
Other Identification
This will bring up a “red flag” to creditors and they will have to pay to bring up yet another credit report.

Go grab your car keys – you are going to a library or a bookstore.
There is a book called
Credit and Debt Repair for Dummies (or something similar).
These books teach you how to negotiate, settle, reduce payments, do a pay on delete, etc.
Like a PRO.
All the secrets of repairing credit are in these books.

Spend 2 or 3 hours reading and it could save you thousands.
Do not pay any company to do this for you – they are out to scam you.
These books will tell you that sometimes you might be better off leaving small “really old” debts unpaid.

Make sure you have your credit reports at hand.

Never fall for scams like TV commercials with silly songs that will charge you for them.

Particularly if you are planning to make an application for a loan or some major purchases, you may wish to make sure first that you have a clean credit history so you won’t get caught up with cleaning or disputing your records later.

5. Lastly, don’t sacrifice your other accounts that have a good credit record. Even if you are dealing with some negative credit reports on other accounts, try to contribute in other accounts and continue to pay them on time.

6. If you have managed to clean any wrong information and you are still left with some negative information on your credit reports, try to take the hint to reconstruct your credit wisely, make your own repayment schedule, manage and improve your credit.

2. and if they remove you for some reason ( pulled out my report the other day and they are no longer there, and I haven’t paid it yet) can they report you back into the collection agencies?

3. Anyone have any tips on how to improve your credit?

Answer

Credit Repair Tips 3 Things to Look Out For When it Comes to Credit Repair and Maintenance

May 11th, 2011 by admin

Contrary to what you may have been led to believe, if you have the right strategy and know certain credit repair tips, repairing your credit rating may not be a very difficult or lengthy process. You already know that your credit report is used by creditors to gauge their risk in lending you money. Creditors know that your financial situation could change at any time due to various circumstances, and hence, the credit reports are updated frequently to reflect your current financial reality. If you do find yourself stuck with a bad credit rating, here are some credit repair tips that could be of use to you in back your rating back in the black:

1. Get False Data Off Your Records First

When you get your credit report, go through it very carefully. Often, false data – some cash advance you didn’t take, money you didn’t borrow, etc. – may have crept onto your report. Without getting into the ‘why,’ you need to eliminate these first. To repair such errors, simply write to the credit bureau listing the error, how it caused you problems (difficulties in getting loans, etc.), and any relevant account numbers (including your social security number). The credit bureau may balk at first, but if you persist they will have to get such false data off your report.

2. Pay Your Bills

This may sound obvious, but a late bill payment can look really bad on your credit report. A no bill payment, on the other hand, looks even worse. Rather than not paying the bill at all, consider paying it late, or if possible, in installments.

Often, creditors will be willing to negotiate your debt with you. In many cases, the debt can be negotiated to almost 60% of the amount owed. However, when creditors do negotiate with a debtor, they attach an expiry date to the offer. So unless you can pay the renegotiated debt quickly, don’t bother with haggling with creditors. Depending on your individual situation, debt settlement may be an option to seriously consider, but it will place a black mark on your credit report.

3. Get Stale-Dated Items Removed

Although the credit bureau and creditors will usually remove bad entries off your credit report automatically when the law requires it, it helps to make a phone call or write a letter to the creditor, asking them to remove any paid off debt from the report. Credit bureaus, banks, etc. are monolithic organizations and things can often get lost in a bureaucratic maze. If you are serious about credit repair, a phone call or letter can prod them in the right direction. The preference is, of course, letters since they provide an audit trail that can be used to ratchet up the pressure if nothing happens.

Credit repair isn’t impossible nor does it have to be very time consuming. The time required will depend on the number and complexity of the issues, who the creditors are, etc. The best way to go is to keep things simple by keeping payment current, paying off your bills as soon as you can, and negotiating your debt (where possible)if you are in a situation where you simply can’t afford to keep current. You can have a spanking clean credit report by using these simple proven credit repair tips.
